So, you’re here in the present moment, looking from the silent truth within and the oneness of existence!
My name is Chris and I help guide people through the Path of Spiritual Awakening towards Liberation!
Our Collective Human Story (The Spiritual Journey)
For most people, when they look around at the world today as it is and see all the conflict and suffering going on around them and on the tv, they might find it hard to relate to other people. When we are fearful, we allow ourselves to be separated from others. Out of our fears, we pull away and isolate ourselves, which only serves to cause more differences between us and for us to focus on those differences.
But the truth of the matter is that we all have something quite profound in common, something that we can all relate to, we have more similarities than differences, and that is our Collective Human Story, the story of ‘US’.
When we were born into this world, we were an innocent bundle of pure untapped potential and possibilities. However, soon after being born we were subjected to the greatest trauma any of us could ever experience, the trauma of ‘separation’!
As a new born baby, we had no mental concept of separation, but as soon as we came out of our mother’s womb we were labelled with a name tag that divided us from everything else, and from that moment on everybody would refer to us as that fragmented label. They would say ‘hello John, good boy John, naughty boy John’, they would say ‘John is like this…John is like that….’, this reference of being a name slowly began to create a sense of ‘identity’ within us that became attached to the name, a self-image that we carried around as ‘who we are’, ‘I am John’…’I’m the one who is a good boy or naughty boy ect’.
Once this ‘container’ of identity was created, many identities were poured in to it. All other strings of identity would stick to it like a Velcro strap! Identities like, being a clever or dumb person, being good or bad, being a Christian or a Jew, being a happy or sad person, being black or white, being rich or poor, being an Arab or Jew and so on. There are thousands of identities that can be formed by a ‘person’. In others words, all ways in which we would identify and define ourselves based on our exposure to the people and environment around us.
If we were born in a Christian family, then we took on the Christian conditioning and view point as our identity, if we lived in the Western Society, then we took on all of the Western values, ideologies and belief systems, and the same would be true in any environment we were born into, we would become a programmed product of our environment in many ways. We would then live, act and experience through that lens of identity that we took on.
As we grew, we would be exposed to great pressure to conform to the society we were living in, and if we didn’t conform we would receive a backlash in the form of being called ‘weird, stupid, strange’ and so on, and that would be the timid side, in some countries and societies the treatment we would receive would be much more physically severe, even DEATH…!
In other words, the peer pressure most people would receive for not thinking and acting the same as everyone else would soon knock them back in line, and if they didn’t go back in line, they would be ridiculed or ousted.
To go even further, the society would implement certain legal requirements for all people to conform to, and if they didn’t conform, they would be made to feel guilty or shameful and eventually penalised or even jailed!
All of this conditioning and pressure to conform from society and others is what molds most people into who they are (only who they think they are), it molds them into a False limited identity that is bound by the limitations of their own thinking and self-image. It is this self-image of ideas and limitations which leads to all of the suffering we experience, that of which is ultimately psychological. It creates an illusionary layer of mis-perception that blinds us from reality, the reality being of our true nature of infinite oneness and limitless potential.
This is a story that every human being on the planet shares, and so actually the similarity of this great challenge we all face is one that binds us all together. We all go through the same sufferings and challenges in the life, and what is that main challenge? It’s the battle inside of us against ourselves!
The identity of being a separate personalized self with limiting ideas and conditioning’s is the very thing that creates a split within us, it creates and inner argument within, and the argument against ourselves is that which then manifests as an argument against life and others.
All of our conflicts and sufferings begin with us because we feel cut off from life and because of our limited and false sense of identity that we hold to be true.
And so, this has been our collective struggle that we all share, this has been at the root of everything that we have gone through in life, we have all been searching to get back home into completeness and oneness. We have all been searching for reality and ourselves, we have been searching for our original fulfillment, but we have been taught to look in all the wrong places for it!
Some of us however (probably those reading this now) have awoken and had some glimpse of this true reality, some have seen through the veil of illusions that bind most people, we are the Awakened ones….
The Journey of the Awaken Ones
The journey of the Awakened ones has up until this point been an extremely rare one (considering the population size it still is rare), but more people than ever have begun to awaken to the lies of illusion that have been before them. These illusions come in two main forms that can ultimately be traced back to one.
The first illusion is the illusion of how we ‘believed’ the world works based on what we were taught to believe about it. Some of the illusions that we awoke to include, corruption on the highest levels of society that we trusted were working in our best interests, lies about our history and where we came from, and lies about who we are and what reality really is.
The second type of illusion is where the first type of illusion manifests from, the second type of illusion is therefore even closer to home. This illusion is the illusion of our own perception, and about who we experience ourselves to be. Its who we perceive and experience ourselves to be which eventually manifests itself in the forms we see around us.
If we see ourselves to be separate from existence and that is how we experience things, then that becomes infused in our actions and decisions which then create the forms and societies around us. When we believe ourselves to be inherently separate from existence, we act out of fear, and then our actions and decisions then become influenced by that energy.
In other words, the collective illusion of being a separate identity that starts within us, creates the societal illusion that we see around us, and this is why we have a society that is largely structured in the form of survival. The need to survive always comes from a deep sense of fear. Take a look at how society is structured and designed and you will see that it is all survival based and therefore fear induced at its core.
The inner illusion created the outer illusion, and so the only real solution to change what we see out there, is to first wake up within here! Within ourselves!
Fortunately, many of us have begun to do so! Congratulations to all of you that were able to see through the tangled web of these illusions, because it isn’t easy, and that’s why so few people make it out of these inner and outer dream worlds. They remain trapped and lost for eons!
The Awakened ones could always sense deep down within themselves that something didn’t feel right about the world. They felt like an outsider, like they didn’t quite fit in with other people and the society as it was. They were like a fish that didn’t follow all of the other salmon that swam downstream, they always felt like swimming upstream, or even to stop swimming all together and pull out from the mad race!
They slowly began to see through the lies, and in doing so they began to see things differently. For most, this allowed them to view themselves differently also, and so an inner awakening of sorts may have occurred, piercing both the veils of societal illusion and personal illusion.
For most of those that awoke, this left them feeling completely out of place and at odd with themselves and the world. The question may have arisen, ‘What should I do now?’, ‘How can I function knowing the truth?’.
To awaken and not go all the way is the most difficult thing anyone could experience, it’s like being trapped between two worlds, the real and the unreal. It’s like being in a universal limbo, one foot in one door and the other foot in another.
To answer this question of ‘what should I do now?’ and ‘How can I function?’ let me explain a little bit about who we really are, what reality is and what the Spiritual Path is laid out before us…
The Spiritual Path (The Journey Home)
Congratulations, you have made it to territory that most have never tread upon, you are like the one sperm out of millions that makes it to the egg. However amazing that is, you must know there is more, this is not where your journey ends…
Awakening is only the beginning! It is only the first steps up the mountain, it will take tremendous courage to make it to the top of the mountain. What is at the top of the mountain?
Yes, really….no shit!
Freedom will come in two ways –
These two types of freedom will answer both of the questions you have above (what should I do now? And How can I function?).
We must first understand what spiritual awakening really is. The word spiritual can be broken up into to two parts, ‘spirit’ which means that which is nonphysical, and ‘ual’ which means ‘pertaining to’. So, a Spiritual path is that which is pertaining to the nonphysical.
A spiritual path means that we seek our nonphysical nature which is beyond the limitations of the so called ‘physical’ world. When we find the nonphysical nature, it is the beginning of becoming free from the physical reality. This is the first type of freedom, it is freedom from…
This freedom from the limitations of physical only happens in Enlightenment or what I mainly call ‘liberation’. This means that our sense of identity is no longer chained to the physical world and all of the things within it. However, the interesting thing about this freedom is that it is not exactly how it sounds. What I mean by this is that ‘freedom from’ doesn’t imply detachment, what it implies is, a complete melting back into life from where a nondual reality occurs. The freedom is not in pulling out, but it is in being in and as oneness itself. Oneness occurring means there is no longer an apart sense of identity.
This is the first type of freedom. After this liberation occurs, we are free, it is done! and what can happen is that this dream world is dissolved. The karma that was binding us to this dream world through clinging and identity ends, so we are now completely free from whatever happens, including being free from the body and psychological processes. This means that all internal suffering ends, and because there is just oneness left, freedom is just ever present.
Now for many beings that have reached liberation…. their journey ends there. But some choose to stick around and feel to contribute something before the body drops. The beings that become free don’t owe anything to anyone, they paid their karma, and so they are free to leave, but some decide to stay in order to be of use to the rest.
For these beings, they must now reach and master the second level of freedom… ‘freedom in’.
Freedom ‘in’ simply means freedom and mastery of one’s energies and direction. We decide to be of some use in the world, and so we learn how to control our energies so that we can contribute and create certain things around us.
Our energies are that of attention, thought, emotion and action. When these energies are pointed in a particular direction consistently, we create out of that laser focused energy.
When freedom ‘from’ and freedom ‘in’ meet, it means that we can create without being attached to the result of our creation. Life then becomes a joy to live, because in a sense…we have the best of both worlds. Material and Spiritual together as one, what a JOY!
So, what you must know is that your awakening is only the very beginning of the exciting, challenging but yet very rewarding journey ahead of you. Only if you decide to choose it of course…?
Unfortunately, many beings who first awaken don’t go all the way to liberation, they stop the path and get lost. In a sense, they cease to progress along the path consciously.
And so, they either end up in the nut house, or they end up falling back in to the old ways, and if they do fall back into the old ways…now they fall back in without any ignorance about it…which only makes it even worse for them than before. At least before they didn’t know any different, and so they suffered unconsciously, but now they are conscious they are suffering consciously which is worse!
What happens to many that awaken, is that they begin to fall back to the way side because they don’t understand how to function any longer, and they don’t understand what the goal is.
The goal is ultimate freedom!
So how do we come to freedom?
What you can begin to do
Before we can begin to take action, we must first know the right action to take, and before we can do that, we must understand what it is that we are doing.
It is not complex to understand what we are doing, all we are here to do first and foremost is to wake up to reality, the reality of who or what we are, and what reality is. We do this not through conceptualization, ideas and belief systems, but through a kind of direct contact.
For example, if you had never tasted a banana in your life before and I then asked you ‘what is a banana?’ or ‘what is the experience of a banana?’ you would only be able to give me a description of it, but the description itself is not the banana is it? And the description of it doesn’t actually bring you any closer to the actual contact and experience of it.
To have contact with it, to experience it, you must go beyond the intellectual idea of it…and actually get your hands on it and experience it, you must come face to face and meet it, no?
We must come to see life ‘as it really is’ without any distortion or filter.
This is the very same thing when it comes to the reality of who you are and of what existence is itself. You can only step into its reality through a direct meeting of it, not through any idea, belief or conceptual notion of it. Does this make sense? Can you see the difference?
This means that we can’t dispel illusion and awaken to our nonphysical nature and oneness with thought, we must use ways in which take us directly to the nonphysical.
There are two main routes to go beyond illusion, one is to go straight to the nonphysical at its source, and the other is to expose the illusions themselves. I say why not proceed from both ends.
So, if you have had an awakening up to this point, then you have likely questioned a lot about reality, but have you questioned everything?
And when I say question, I don’t necessarily mean to question it for you to then replace it with an answer, the question itself is very sufficient, because the question can expose something which then leads you to direct contact of the reality that seems to be underneath the surface of the illusion.
In this way, I am speaking about questioning reality like looking under rocks, leaving no stone unturned…
It’s our unquestioned beliefs and assumptions that keep us away from reality and trap us in a web of distorted perception.
I will leave you with this question in regards to questioning reality, ‘how much can you actually know to be a true fact?’. If you go deep into this question, you may be really shocked at what you find! I know i was…
Let go of ideas out of harmony with reality
This is a soft way of saying ‘drop all of your BS!’…’Belief systems!’.
Does an idea or belief get you in touch with reality…or does it just keep you in your mind far far away from it?
In other words, are there actually any ideas or beliefs that put you in contact with life itself ‘as it is’?
My suggestion would be no. No belief or idea can allow you the final step of Liberation.
Don’t take my word for it, ask this question and look yourself…
Meditation is a scientific apparatus to give oneself permission to just be with ‘what is’, to value what is here right now in front of you, around you and within you in the present moment.
That means that it takes you into the timeless reality of ‘hereness’ or reality itself, of the truth.
Meditation allows us to shine a light on the inner dream state of illusions and see what is beyond that smoke screen. What is it that is within us that is watchful of all passing experiences and appearances within the forever changing physical world?
Meditation gets us in contact with ‘how things really are’ right now, not how the ‘apart mind identity’ sees them to be, this is the difference between reality and illusion.
As we meditate, we get grounded in the ‘watchful presence’ within and begin to look from truth itself. The more we rest ‘as that’ the more illusions begin to be exposed and fall away, leaving us clean and full of reality.
So just as with ‘question everything’ above, self-investigation is a means of questioning who or what we really are. We do this in a very objective fashion be means of first concluding what we are not.
So, for example, If i asked you the question ‘are you the car that you drive?’, most of you would say…no, of course not.
Why would you say that? More than likely you would conclude that the car is something that can be taken away and given and that it is something that is external to you. This is true, if something can come and go, and if something is external to you, then obviously it can’t be you, because it can go while you stay.
In other words, self-investigation is a means to discover that which is ever present within you as opposed to that which is transient in nature.
So, with self-investigation we begin by concluding through our observation what we are not. Believe it or not, some people actually think they are their car, money or job, yes, it is true…hard to believe right….err… not really, as we know many people that have their identities wrapped up in such things. And when those things get taken away or tampered with, they can often kick up a fit and suffer for it. That’s what shows us what we are identified with!
Anyway, we start by finding out what we are not, and the measure of what we are not is based on that which is not constant.
Now this is where it gets interesting, we can see that the more external things are not constant and are not who we are, but as we get deeper within ourselves and we get to our closer circle of family and friends and daily roles, it becomes harder to see what is not us. It becomes harder to see what we are identified with and whether or not those things are really who we are or not.
Then once we investigate our body and mind levels, this is where things become very very subtle.
Am I my body?
Am I my thoughts?
Am I my beliefs?
And so on and so forth.
As you investigate very deeply, you may be surprised at what you find…
Last but certainly not least is to practice receiving from the universe. All of our suffering comes from struggling against ‘how things are right now’, either we didn’t like something that happened in the yesterday and are suffering it right now, or we don’t like a situation right now, or we are struggling against what we think is about to come in the morrow or next moment.
In other words, we don’t allow and receive what is here right now, instead we are too busy struggling against it, this is what causes out everyday pain and struggle, this is what blinds us from peace, freedom and reality.
We must learn to align ourselves with life and the hereness of this moment, only in that way will we be free from suffering and experience peace and freedom. Trust how intelligent you and the universe are, you are the universe and the universe is you! Trust yourself…trust the universe…trust the universe…trust yourself, there is no difference.
Life is always bringing us what we need to get to the next level, if only we could always see it!
Receive what comes, learn to let go and allow things as they are in the moment, this will bring you deep peace and will bring you very close to freedom!
You’re just oneness… you’re just everything…. that’s all, but that’s a lot!
